Ethanol production last week ran 954,000 barrels per day. This was -1.3% from last year. This marks two weeks of weakness after an extended period of strong runs.
Year to date, Sep 1 - current, production has run +4.2% vs. prior year. That is next to USDA's whole-year goal of 5.400 billion bushels of corn for ethanol, +4.3%. USDA added 25 million to their prior view on the March WASDE. For now, two weeks of misses are not a major issue. If this continues we may see that recent corn for ethanol addition removed. To meet USDA's current goal the remainder of the year would need to run +4.6%.
