One positive soybean export sale after weeks of problems.

Sales of 485,795 tonnes were reported for soybeans. The trade estimate was 300,000 – 650,000. This was a positive sale week. It was the third best for this week of the past 10 years.

USDA’s 1.700 billion bushel soybean export estimate is -14% from the five year average sale. Year to date sales are currently -17% from average. To meet USDA’s goal the remaining weeks through August need to improve to +28% from average. This week was +64%. Including this week, the recent 13 week trend is -57%.

If remaining sales “improve” to even with average we'll miss USDA's goal by -46 million bushels. If they run -20% the miss is -79.
