Cattle weights slim on a year over year basis. No change for hogs.

The weekly Actual Slaughter report today detailed meat production statistics for the second week of August.

Dressed steers were +2 lbs. from the prior week to now 925. Dressed heifers were +5 to now 839. Compared with last year though, steers fell from +28 lbs. to now +24. Dressed heifers fell from +23 lbs. to now +19.

Cattle weights peaked in May at +4.0% year/year. They are now +2.5%.

Dressed hog weights in this week were unchanged from the prior, 208 lbs. Compared with last year there was also no change, +4 lbs. Hog weights have picked up recently, from +1.0% year/year in July to now +2.0
