Cattle weights expand to now +4.0% vs. last year.

The weekly Actual Slaughter report detailed meat production data for the 5/20 - 5/25 week.

Dressed steer and heifer weights were -1 lb. from the prior week, now 851 and 846 respectively. Given this is a time of seasonal declines our focus is the year over year comparison. Dressed steers increased from +36 lbs. vs. last year to now +37. Dressed heifers were unchanged at +29 lbs. to last year.

Weights, compared with last year, expanded again. They are now +4.0% from last year.

Dressed barrow/gilt weights were unchanged from the prior week at 213 lbs. Compared with last year they increased from +1 lb. to now +2.

Dressed hog weights are now adding +0.9% to pork production separate from slaughter numbers.
