Cattle and hog weights expand vs. last year.

Today's weekly Actual Slaughter report detailed meat production statistics for the last week of July/first week of August.

Dressed steer weights rose 2 lbs. in the latest week, now 923. Dressed heifers were -1 to now 834. Compared with last year steer weights rose 2 lbs. to now +28. Heifer weights were unchanged at +23 vs. last year.

Weights are back to adding +3.0% to beef production separate from slaughter numbers.

Dressed barrow/gilt weights fell 1 lb. in the latest week to 208 lbs. Compared with last year there was a 1 lb. increase to now +4.

Weights are adding +2.0% vs. last year to pork production separate from slaughter numbers. This is the bigger overage yet for the year.
